学校の記念日と絵はがき School Anniversaries and Picture Postcards |

学校の様々な記念日にも絵はがきが作られました。 学校の創立20周年、30周年など節目の記念や、校舎を新築した記念などの目的で作られました。校舎の新築にあたっては、当時の最新の施設を誇らしく紹介しています。 運動会、遠足、林間学校などの学校行事の際にも、さかんに絵はがきが作られました。写真を撮ることが身近ではなかった時代、これらの絵はがきは思い出の品となったことでしょう。 学校の記念とは離れますが、地域の名勝などを集めた観光絵はがきセットのなかに、寺院や海岸などの名勝に混ざって学校の校舎がとり上げられています。これも、最新の建物を、地域の誇りとして紹介しているのでしょう。 |

| Picture postcards were also issued to commemorate milestones such as the 20th or 30th anniversary of a school’s foundation or the completion of a new school building. The postcards for new school buildings proudly exhibited the state-of-the-art facilities of the time. School events such as sports days, school outings and summer camps were further opportunities to create picture postcards, which must have been precious mementoes in an era when taking photographs was not an everyday occurrence. School buildings were often featured in sets of picture postcards of local scenic attractions for tourists, alongside Buddhist temples and beaches. The modern architecture of the school buildings seems to have been presented as the pride of the local communities. |

大正7（1918）年発行 東金高等女学校の開校10周年を記念して作られた絵はがき。絵はがきに写る洒落た校舎は、明治43（1910）年に完成したもの。 同校は明治41（1908）年に開校した千葉県で2校目の高等女学校で、現在の千葉県立東金高等学校。 |

昭和11（1936）年発行 一宮尋常・高等小学校の新築記念の絵はがき。現在の一宮町立一宮小学校。校舎。講堂など新築された建物と共に、応接室内の奉安室（天皇の写真と教育勅語が納められた建物）が写っており、昭和10年代という時代を感じさせる。 |
